Teaching Reflection 2
The content of the last class was about continents for first-grade students. This class is about which countries are in each continent. The purpose of this class is to enable students to be familiar with and master the names of at least two countries in each continent.
At the beginning, I used the wordwall game to lead everyone to recall the content of the last class and asked the students to come up and answer questions on the screen. The students were all extremely enthusiastic in raising their hands.
Then I explained the differences between continents and countries and asked them questions, "Do you know which countries are in Asia?" ..." Then ask them to write on the board, and at the same time I use Google Maps to show them.
After that, I repeatedly mentioned these contents in the form of answering questions with maps and slides to reinforce their impression repeatedly.
I find that in this class, teaching is student-centered, allowing students to participate in the project instead of being teacher-centered and merely lecturing.
My mentor said that what she didn't expect was that many students could know the country and write it down on the board. So I think we mustn't think that children are stupid. In fact, they are very clever and bright.
Because this class of mine is the last one for the students, many students, especially the first graders, will feel tired and exhausted, and just want to go home. I should try my best to use some interesting activities that get them moving to drive the entire class.
All of these will be very valuable experiences for me.
The lesson was engaging and student-centered, using games, maps, and interactive questions to deepen understanding of continents and countries. It encouraged active participation and showed great respect for students’ abilities and curiosity. Well done!
