Student practice-- Observation 7

This is an observation class at an Canadian international school in Poland, observing the mathematics class of second-grade students.

This class is mainly about division. At the beginning, the teacher asked the students about the definition of division. Some simple small interactions activated the students' prior knowledge. It is commendable that the students communicated in English throughout the entire process and did not talk casually with other classmates in class. The classroom order was quite good.

After that, the teacher handed out a piece of paper with 12 circles on it and asked the students to cut out these 12 circles with scissors to make small plates. Then give each person 12 small biscuits.

Then, the teacher plays a video about division, such as "There are two people now. How many biscuits will each person get?" Another person came, each person could get how many cookies...." . After the video ended, the teacher asked the students to answer the questions. This activity enables students to learn and understand the definition and usage of division more intuitively.

Then I found that the students' environmental awareness was also very strong. After paper-cutting, they would immediately throw the garbage into the trash can to keep the desk clean.

After the class is over, students can taste small biscuits.
